In my last review I mentioned that I’ve transitioned away from coffee. Now I’m not saying coffee is bad, however it does not agree with me and I’m personally not able to consume it. If I do I feel terrible and it really upsets my stomach. Yes I have tried smaller doses, cold-brewing and decaf. None of which have worked for me. Instead of giving up, Sol Natural Foods reached out to me and introduced me to their Macaccino Superfood Drink. Which is a coffee alternative that’s completely caffeine-free, none acidic and made from all natural ingredients.
At first I wasn’t sure what to think, I loved coffee and that flavor isn’t easily replicated. But of course I gave Macaccino a try and was pleasantly surprised. No it doesn’t taste exactly like coffee, but yes it does have a rich flavor that resembles it and I don’t have to worry about the acidity giving me acid reflux or causing my stomach to feel upset. It also doesn’t contain caffeine, so it’s completely jitter-free! I find that I’m able to still enjoy it in place of coffee and it’s just as delicious. Especially blended into a frozen beverage, recipe coming soon!
Macaccino is made up of a blend of roasted maca. Specifically: Roasted Maca, cocoa powder, mesquite powder, cinnamon, nutmeg. They offer an Original flavor, which closely resembles a medium roast coffee (you can add more powder for a stronger flavor), a Magical Mint flavor (which is my personal favorite) and a Black Reserve that’s geared towards the dark roast lovers. All containing a base of roasted maca. You can read all about the ingredients on Sol Natural Food’s website.
If you’re not sure what maca is, it’s actually a powerful superfood that’s known to provide energy and even treat illness. After being diagnosed with a thyroid disease at age 17 I’ve used maca as a holistic treatment and actually reversed my hypothyroidism. Along with eating a plant-based, vegan diet for almost 4 years now. Maca has shown to improve blood-flow and actually help balance the body’s muscular, lymphatic, nervous, and cardiovascular systems. Maca is also rich in carbohydrates, fiber, protein, calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium, sulfur, iron, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, 20 different amino acids (with seven essential amino acids), sterols, and more. You can see why it’s highly regarded as a superfood, so many nutritional benefits! If you would like to read more about maca, you can do so here.
Coffee aside, Macaccino is a fantastic superfood beverage to add to your diet. You’re able to drink it hot or cold, I personally love to blend it and make frozen coffee-like frappaccinos. Let me know if you’re interested in a recipe, this blend makes an amazing frozen caramel macchiato that I’m in love with and would be happy to share a post on.
Overall I highly recommend Macaccino if you too struggle with the acidity and caffeine in coffee. It’s a wonderful source of many nutritional benefits as well, making it a great addition to any lifestyle. Giving you a natural boost of energy that’s packed full of a flavor very similar to that of actual coffee. We all know I struggle with energy some days, if you too have the same problem I can’t recommend this enough! Sol Natural Foods was kind enough to offer my readers a 10% off coupon code “TPP10”. Let me know if you order a bag, I would love to hear your thoughts on it!
