When you’re first transitioning to a vegan lifestyle, beauty products are the last thing on your mind. You’re so focused on food and ingredients, you don’t really grasp the lifestyle aspect of it until after you’ve nailed your dietary needs.
If I’m being honest, I didn’t transition to strictly cruelty-free, vegan products until after my first year eating vegan. I didn’t research the facts on animal testing, animal derived “ingredients” and natural brands until just over a year ago. I really wish I did it sooner, but c’est la vie. I’m here now and I really want to share what I’ve spent the past year testing, loving and swearing by.
If you’re interested in learning more about cruelty-free versus vegan in terms of products – definitely check out this video from the lovely Tashina (Logical Harmony). Here is also a complete brand list of all things cruelty-free AND vegan!
Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay
It’s no surprise I’m mentioning my favorite clay mask – it’s been talked about before.
This has been a holy grail staple in my beauty regimen for years. I swear by a clay mask weekly, especially combined with soaking in a hot bath. The greatest thing about this, aside from that fact it works beautifully – it’s so affordable and lasts forever. You only use a teaspoon per mask and this container is 1 pound. Needless to say I bought this one recently and the last one lasted me almost two years.
I plan on sharing a few ways I like to mix it up to create different masks for different needs, stay tuned for that in the future.
Meow Meow Tweet Deodorant Cream Lavender
Also mentioned in a pervious post, this is the one and only deodorant in my life. I finally found one that actually works for me and is completely natural – that’s a lot harder than you would think.
I spent over a year testing out about 10 different brands/formulas. None of them worked, most of them only lasted a couple hours but this one – oh my goodness. I wish I found it sooner! It literally lasts me the entire day, zero smell and no white marks on my tops.
If I had to recommend just one product, it would be this cream by far. I struggled with my underarms for way too long – no one should have to stress over that. I’m so happy to finally have something that works!
Vanity Planet Face Brush
Not sure if I ever mentioned this in a post on here, but I’ve used a Clarisonic facial brush for over 4 years now. I swear by it, it reduced my hyperpigmentation, ache scarring and has dramatically evened out my skintone. The reason I don’t talk about it is because most people don’t have hundreds to spend on something like that – it’s an investment. So I found the next best thing and I am so incredibly excited to share a HUGE promo code for you all, if you’re interested in purchasing it.
This spin brush from Vanity Planet works just like a Clarisonic – the only con is you don’t have a rechargeable battery in this unit and it’s not quite as powerful. I haven’t found any issue with it’s speed, it still buffs out my skin without irritating it (I have very sensitive, combination/oily skin), and it does remove all my makeup. I like to use this at night to really cleanse my skin and in the morning I use a konjac sponge (more on that below). It’s gentle enough to use daily, you have the option of two brush heads plus a body brush and a pumice stone attachment. So all in all, it’s kind of amazing for the price. Use the promo code “SpinMC” or 70% off (that makes it $30 + free shipping!)
Lotus Wei Joy Juice Serum
Yes, I’ve talked about this many times before. Yet another holy grail in my life – I can’t live without this serum. Aside from being obsessed with floral scents, I truly believe in the power of flower essences and their ability to uplift you and impact your overall mood. I use this in combination with my nighttime routine, after cleansing with my spin brush + cleanser I tone with rosewater and apply about 2 pumps of this serum all over my face and neck. Gently working it into my skin, I sort of give myself a little massage to really work it in while I breathe deeply to get those flower essences working.
They do have many others to choose from, but I’ve found that this one is my go-to. It puts me in a better mood before I go to sleep and I always wake up feeling happier.
I swear by it you guys, simple as that.
My Konjac Sponge Bamboo Charcoal Facial Sponge
Konjac sponges have been around for quite awhile, more recently their becoming popular though. I mentioned My Konjac Sponge back in December when I shared a Christmas Gift Guide. I still use my charcoal sponge every morning. It’s so gentle and beneficial using something that’s totally natural. I think this in combination with my diet has been the key to reducing ache and ache breakouts. I’m 25, but yes I still breakout from time to time – especially when I’m hormonal.
Definitely check them out, they have quite a few sponges that target different things. I’ve got my mom using the mature skin sponge and she loves it!
Cocokind Rosewater Toner
So I heard you like florals? Yup. I do indeed. Rosewater was something I added to my skincare routine pretty recently, like 3 months ago. I shared a full review on the Cocokind skincare line, you can find that here.
I love using this right after cleansing and before moisturizing – both morning and night. I have no idea if it’s actually helping my skin, I just know that I adore it and it definitely has reduced some redness around my nose and chin. It feels really fresh and of course, the lovely rose scent makes me very happy.
Well Scent Smile Dental Powder + Watch Your Mouth
Another newer product I’ve added to my arsenal. Well Scent is actually a local company (Austin) that I was introduced to by Whitney, Eco Vegan Gal. I’m so happy she shared her love for their products because now I’m obsessed! I plan on writing a full review on a few of their main products – but right now lets discuss this amazing dental duo.
Shine is a powder that you use in place of conventional toothpaste. Watch Your Mouth is an oil blend that you can use in combination with the powder or separately as a toothpaste. The beauty of the oil is that it can be used in so many beneficial ways, to freshen breath – heal canker sores – sore throat gargle – oil pulling. I’m already obsessed and seeing the benefits of using such high quality ingredients. I can’t wait to talk more on these products, check out their site for more information.
Apsara Neem Facial Cleanser
It took me a while to find a cleanser that didn’t dry out my skin, make my skin breakout and also contained nothing but good things. Yes, you can use coconut oil but I wasn’t content with how it cleansed my skin. I like something that actually lathers up and washes away without leaving behind any residue.
This cleanser is new to my routine, but I’ve been using it for about 3 months now and I’m really happy with it so far. It offers everything I’m needing from a cleanser and that’s good enough for me.
Petit Vour Beauty Box
Petit Vour is my life! Two of these products I swear by are all because of them, had I not been subscribed to their monthly boxes I might not have ever discovered so many incredible brands I now swear by. I can’t recommend Petit Vour enough, if you’re looking to find high-end, cruelty-free/vegan beauty products – then this box is a must. It’s worth the value plus so much more, check out their pervious box here and their Instagram here!
What are some of your favorite cruelty-free brands/products? I’d love to hear what you use and swear by, I’m open to trying out new products – so leave me a comment down below!2
