Citrus Turmeric Shots

April 2, 2015 by Margaret 4 Comments

A holistic, pain-relieving remedy that’s perfect for its anti-inflammatory properties. I swear by a batch of this when I’m having headaches, muscle soreness, cramps and/or I just want a sip of something citrus. Cause lemons + limes are kind of amazing, they make my tastebuds happy. You honestly can’t even taste the turmeric, so it’s basically an orange lemonade – win/win!

Did you know that ground turmeric is also a great way to brighten your teeth and skin?! I’ll definitely be sharing a fun way I like to use turmeric in my skincare routine. It’s such an easy way to treat yourself, all the while brightening your complexion and reducing overall redness.

Are you starting to see why I love this spice so much? It’s not only delicious in tofu scrambles people, you can use it for so much more! I’ll be sharing another way I use it in my recipe tomorrow <3 Be sure to check out the video tutorial for these shots here.

Yield 2 -3 cups

Ingredients

  • 2-3 cups Filtered Water
  • 3 Lemons, freshly squeezed
  • 1 Lime, freshly squeezed
  • 2 tsp ground Turmeric

Instructions

  1. Measure your filtered water into a mason jar.
  2. Freshly squeeze your lemons and lime.
  3. Add in your turmeric and stir till evenly distributed.
  4. Refrigerate to chill, shake before pouring.

Notes

I recommend keeping this no longer than 2 days, you want this to be made fresh as needed. It's also safe to drink a whole batch in a day.For an extra kick, add in a 1/4 tsp cayenne powder. If this is too bitter, feel free to add a touch of sweetener. I recommend stevia, maple syrup, coconut nectar or agave.

I’ve read where you should put tumeric with black pepper & olive oil, so you have better absorption. Do you know any the about this? Like 1/2 rsp tumeric, 1/4 black pepper & 1tsp olive oil.

I’ve hear similar things, pairing it with a fat. I’m honestly not an expert on the top though, you can definitely make this and add a touch of whatever oil you prefer or consume it after eating something that has a fat in it.
