Chili Cheese Carrot Dogs

August 21, 2015 by Margaret 13 Comments

Get ready to be shocked because I’m about to blow your mind with these carrot dogs. Did you ever think such a thing would exist?! Talk about creative, this idea is pure gold! No preservatives, fillers or ingredients you can’t pronounce – just carrots. I freakin’ love the minimalism of this recipe! I can’t wait to try it out with different marinades and/or toppings. I’m thinking caramelized onions, cheezy kale chips and a spicy mayo ketchup would be so delicious!

What would you put on your carrot dogs?

I’m kinda freaking out about how much they look like REAL hot dogs! I love the idea of topping them with cheezy kale chips….mmmmm! I have yet to find a gluten-free hot dog bun, but I’ll definitely be making the carrot dogs soon. What an awesome recipe!

Right?! It’s scary! I can’t wait to make more with different toppings. I plan on tweaking the marinade too. The only gluten-free bun I’ve found has eggs in it, so sadly I can’t recommend a specific brand to you. BUT this one brand, Schar has gluten-free + vegan (they do contain soy) baguettes that work great! It’s like an oversized bun, but if you cut the hot dog in half, you’ve got a cool sandwich! I buy mine off of Vitacost. They’re usually sold out, so I stock up because they freeze well. So far that’s the best alternative I’ve been able to find. Hope that helps <3

This is my first time leaving a comment about a recipe. I was so nervous about trying these carrot dogs, but I’m soooo glad I did! Hubby loved them too! I can’t wait to try them next time with the cheese sauce. I topped mine with turkey chili, cheese, and onions. Thanks for the recipe!

I’m confused about the coconut amino substitution. Could you please clarify how much of the ingredients to use for a sub?
    Thanks!

Hi Shelley, it’s substituted for equal parts. So the exact same amount, with whatever you’re wanting to substitute with. Hope that helps.
