Today is an exciting post day because I am sharing a very unique product that I was recently introduced to by yet again, the lovely Whitney from Eco Vegan Gal. She’s basically my go-to for discovering new brands and eco-friendly products.
Whitney talked about ditching conventional toothbrushes and switching to these bamboo ones in a video review a few months back. I thought it was odd at first, but after realizing the excess use of unessecary plastic it made sense.
I’ve cut plastic consumption from my life significantly over the past year. It never dawned on me to implement that practice in typical things I use daily. Enter Brush With Bamboo, an incredible company that creates toothbrushes made from Bamboo harvested in China. They assured me that their practice is clean. I’ve read through multiple documents on information from different testing agencies on their brushes. Stating the points listed below.
Brush with Bamboo is tested and verified:
- NO BPA
- NO TOXIC CHEMICALS
- USDA Certified Biobased Product by United States Government’s Biopreferred Program
“A purchase of our toothbrush is a vote for bio-based products that are not fossil fuel-based!“
“Our bristles are verified Free of BPA. Bristles are made from Nylon. Not biodegradable, but may be recycled. We use Nylon because there is no available plant-based option that would allow you to use your toothbrush for 2-4 months. The only biodegradable option is Boar/Pig hair, which we did not want to use.”
From the brush to the packaging, you can’t go wrong. Aside from being truly sustainable, the actual wrapper your brush comes in is completely compostable – made from plants! (read more about that here). So yes, the box is biodegradable, the wrapper is compostable AND the brush itself is recyclable! Talk about eco-friendly! I just love their idea of up cycling them to be seedling markers in your garden. You can check out that tutorial here.
Overall I’m incredibly pleased with my bamboo brush. It functions the exact same as the conventional plastic toothbrushes, but I know for a fact I’m not contributing to the unnecessary waste. It’s lightweight, simplistic and beautiful to look at. I’m proud to have it and it’s kind of fun to talk about when people see it and wonder what the heck it is. It’s bamboo!
I highly recommend Brush With Bamboo to anyone looking to cut more plastic from their lives, as well as support a more eco-friendly and sustainable option that is far better for the environment as a whole. I think this is a significantly better option over plastic. All plastic brushes contain BPA, it’s not just water bottles you need to worry about. If toxic chemicals are something you refrain from, then I highly recommend making the switch today!
Brush With Bamboo contacted me through Instagram and I’m very happy they did. I keep transparency with my readers/followers so I want you all to know when I’m sent something for review. However, please know that if I take the time to share it – that means I 100% stand by the product(s) and my views fully align with the company I am promoting.1
