Treat yourself to a day of pampering. You don’t need to leave the house, or even spend hundreds of dollars to achieve a blissful afternoon of self care. Below I’ve shared a few of my favorite ways to take care of myself from the inside and out.
Whether you have an hour or just a few minutes, try to take time when you can to acknowledge yourself. You are worth those extra moments to get in touch with your body, mind and soul. We all deserve a little down time to relax and reconnect with ourselves.
Check out my favorites ways to relax below!
Did you know you can make these DIY Bath Fizzies at home? No need to spend $5+ for one when you can make a whole batch for a fraction of the price.
Here’s a link to some I really adore. Feel free to mix and match scents. Experiment with new combinations to create the perfect blend for you.
Taking a hot bath with these, lighting my favorite candle and playing my favorite tunes is truly the best destresser for me. I highly recommend listening to some M83, lighting a soy-based candle and really concentrating on your breathing. Just don’t fall asleep, my husband checks in on me if I’ve been soaking for too long haha
Drink Your Greens
Reach for an energy-packed drink that’s going to boost you throughout your day without weighing you down, like this one. If you’re not a smoothie drinker, or you want something you can prep ahead that’s okay to sit in the fridge – I highly recommend a batch of matcha green tea. I love adding in a bit of citrus and some chia seeds to make it a refreshing yet totally satisfying drink.
If you want to go ahead and eat your greens, here’s a salad combo I adore.
Indulge In Sweets
Indulge in something you love. Reward yourself for a hard days work and snack on your favorite sweet.
For me that’s anything chocolate. So I love to make a peanut butter chocolate smoothie, with frozen bananas and raw almond milk. It really hits the spot and my sweet tooth thanks me. This has to be my favorite chocolate smoothie combo <3
Take time to sit in a quite space, alone with your thoughts. Just 15 minutes a day is said to increase overall productivity, positive thinking and re balance your mind with your body.
I like to sit on my bed, or on the living room floor. I close my eyes and think about all the things I accomplished, what goals I’d like to achieve and any positive affirmations I’m trying to ingrain.
I have a lack of self confidence, so telling myself I am enough makes me feel like I can be accepted once I accept myself for who I am now. If you’re struggling with this too – I feel your pain. Self acceptance is something many people have trouble with. Getting to the root of that self doubt is key in moving forward.
Continued progress will be made with consistent meditation, on a daily basis. I can’t stress just how beneficial something as simple as this can be to help you find your center.
How do you treat yourself? I’d love to hear what you do to unwind and destress.
If you would like to learn more about The Self Love Project, I’ll include their website here. Currently TSLP is running a Kickstarter to raise money and get this curriculum distributed to young women everywhere. The pilot program is set to launch in Fall of 2015 – let’s help TSLP reach their goal!
I truly believe in this content being accessible to women everywhere, we need to teach women to love themselves and feel empowered and confident following their dreams <30
